bug

I couldn't move my horse to a free location where I definitely should have been able to move. In chess moving your stuff to the right position at the right time is crucial, this kind of bug is unacceptable.
And please do not reply saying that I don't know how the horse should move. I've played chess for over 10 years.
You should also add a skip button for the animations.

Low score because it had a game ruining bug. Else I'd probably give it a 7 or 8.

RatherRandomReality responds:

The game has been tested thousands of times and there isn't such bug. In chess sometimes you cannot move your knights(horses) if they are "pinned" to your king. Make sure to check the "chess rules" section for more information.

okay

I played this game up to level 22 and I felt like I was still playing tutorial levels. The puzzles are really simple and straightforward. I don't know if your target audience was very young kids, but as a gamer in his twenties, I didn't get any kicks from this game. It was pretty boring, sorry.

Skeik responds:

To be honest that was one of my concerns. I tried to spread most of the different puzzle elements in the game around, and make a slow learning curve, but in the end it didn't work out so well.

ehm

Unique controls? Yes.
Good controls? No.

Not much else to say. Other than your control scheme, it's a very basic platformer. The graphics were decent. I like the main character.

Skellus responds:

What are good controls? Those which make the game easier? Or those which increase the challenge? Or perhaps both? Or none? I don't know what you mean when you say the controls are bad. For me bad controls are such which make things more difficult without a real point. It's like using QAOP instead of Arrows or WSAD, or QEP; But here I get the feeling that the controls are just too difficult for you to master in a short period of time thus making them Bad. Noone is good at anything from the start, you also had to learn how to play platformers with arrows.

find a better programmer

First time playing the game I had a massive pop up in the middle of my screen and a button below it reading "Go". It didn't go away when I pressed the Go, it didn't go away when I advanced to another area.

The thing that bothered me was that you shoot with the mouse, but you only allow us to move with arrow keys. When ever you add mouse control to your platformer, it's common sense that you let people use WASD to move the guy, you obviously didn't know this, now you do.

But despite all of the above, I continued playing. What made me close the game was the shooting system. You have to click exactly on the target for it to damage it. There's no bullets flying out of your gun, I guess you just have a toy gun and must concentrate really hard on a spot for the bullet to reappear there :P. I can't believe anyone would deliberately choose to make gun shooting like that, I suspect a lazy or incompetent programmer is the fault here. After the clickfest on hades, I closed the game.

You got good story and good presentation of it with the clips and the dialog, but it's a shame that it's ruined by sloppy execution.

joe-kangaroo responds:

A pretty scathing review there! I don't know what the pop-up is, as it's not happened in testing etc. You've got a very patronising writing style haven't you? It may be that you're trying to be helpful, and indeed a couple of your points are valid, but i'm sure me and other artists would probably listen to you more if you weren't so arrogant with it? Just a suggestion. Thanks for the review.

very good

Excellent game idea. It has addictive gameplay and the graphics are great. One thing that was a bit weird was the difficulty levels. Since this game doesn't have any story or so and is thus a highscore driven game, it was interesting that playing the 'normal' difficulty gets you much higher score easier than the 'hard' difficulty. I couldn't get more than 48k in hard, then I tried for fun the normal mode and made over 100k (currently #5 on the boards). So in conclusion, I don't see any point in playing the hard difficulty.

iojoe responds:

Thanks to all again for the votes/feedback :)

ProfessorFlash - in truth I find hard difficult to get good scores on too, but in testing with friends they seemed to do well with it - it's certainly a lot more frenetic. In hard you get a fixed '2x' multiplier plus by level 10 (which you start on in hard) 'cover time' is worth more points.

bad instructions

Wtf is a "scroll bar"? I didn't see one on the screen, there isn't one in my keyboard and you are not talking about mouse scroll either. I didn't get to play this game as I pressed about every button on the keyboard with no effect. Next time make your game so people understand how to play it.

MakingFunGames responds:

The scroll bar is the slider bar with a rectangle on it at the bottom of the screen, When it tells you to click on it, there's a huge red arrow pointing at it....

I don't know how much more obvious I can make it...

same game submitted same day

This is like http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /516210. Same idea, tetris with physics and you have to match 3. You guys had the same idea and just happened to submit on the same day? Not accusing anything, I think this was just a funny coincidence. That said, I like your version better, good job :).

boonclaw responds:

I did not click on your link, but i'm sure you mean Drop 3. It's really just a funny coincidence. We also happen to had our respective games for sale on flashgamelicense.com, both at the same time.

nice

Very innovative idea. It's a different kind of brain puzzle that we're used to. In this game you can use excluding and logic to find the right answer. That's just how I solve my problems so this game really hit the nerve :). Very good game, good job.

onefifth responds:

I put a bit of time into designing the level to be honest. It can be tricky to make them challenging yet solvable using 3 colours.
Glad you liked it! ^^

bugged

After completing level 3, the mochiad ad shows up and the game never goes forward from there. I waited quite a while so it seems to be a bug. Heavy deduction of points for not testing your own game before submitting.

The game itself seemed bit lacking. It needs something, can't quite put my finger on it but it wasn't very fun to play imo.

jaws73 responds:

There was a glitch on some systems that caused the ad between levels not to go away. The ad has now been removed between levels.

cute

This is a cute platformer but has some gameplay issues. Biggest issue is the camera. You don't see enough below. World 1-5 being perfect example how that will get you in trouble. I reach the first gap and cant see what's below, I jump in and there's fire, great, now I know :P. Also several places where I'm not sure what's below or where the platform is and with some bad luck I fall just between them and die.

One small issue is the font after you've beaten world 1. You chose unreadable font to type out the story of the game. Why? The story sucks so bad and you are ashamed of it and thus made it unreadable? :D

I loved the cute graphics but the camera issues just killed this for me. I don't like playing with constant doubt of what's below me. I suggest either zooming out automatically in such locations or increasing the sight area or allowing the player to freely zoom out when he/she wishes. Too bad really, seemed like a promising platformer.

lartar responds:

hi thanks for the feedback. Try the Down Arrow key, to see whats is below you, you can see camera go down to check that.

Thanks

I like the things I like.
